HP Pavilion DV6000 charger repair

Repaired a HP Pavilion DV6000 laptop charger cord over the weekend. The cord had become frayed extremely bad close to the connector that plugs into the laptop and needed to be replaced. The job was fairly easy and straightforward, but if you don’t feel comfortable with a soldering iron/gun or electrical jobs in general you may want to leave this to someone else. But if you aren’t scared to try something new, and let’s face it, you don’t have much to lose at this point if you are reading this, this can be a low-cost quick fix. Worst possible outcome is you have to buy a new charger cord, which you were probably already planning.
As always with any tutorial, please proceed with caution and at your own risk, I make no guarantees. Cords can overheat, you could get electrocuted, you could fry your laptop, etc. etc.
Frayed Cord
This picture shows the bad condition of the cord, all I’ve done here was cut the connector off. You can see how badly the outside wire is frayed. I think the wire in the white sleeve was still intact but I had to cut all of the bad section out to get to some clean whole wire.
New logo for the redesign of CRLDesigns.net

I’m in the process of upgrading the main website pages of CRLDesigns.net. I’ve created a new header image for the homepage, I wanted something a little more creative. I will try to roll out the new site in the next couple of weeks, but in the mean time the Zazzle Store is available along with the Artwork Gallery. Meebo Bar now added, adds social site tools and chatting!!

Installed the meebo bar to the blog. It adds all sorts of interactivity. You can now “like” things to facebook, drag and drop pics, videos etc. to share to a whole host of social services. Just hover over something and it will highlight with a drag and drop feature which will then popup options for which service you want to share to. You can also click on “Chat with CRLDesigns” on the bar and it will allow you to chat directly with me if I am online (and happen to be sitting at the computer.) Also on the bar in an easy to get to place are my Twitter updates and Youtube videos. But the best feature perhaps is the ability to sign into your various accounts and chat with anyone from almost any service. I have my MSN, AIM, Facebook and Meebo account all linked through the bar and can chat with anyone from any of them. To link MSN, link your MSN account to your meebo account and it will then be an option available. It’s all free, so give it a test drive and see what you think! I will be adding the code for the bar to the main website also during the overhaul. So keep checking back. If you have any questions leave a comment. Thanks.
New Works Portfolio Gallery added to Website

Finally got rid of the old gallery setup and now have a new one to display my computer artwork. It is linked from the main website but the direct address is http://www.crldesigns.net/artwork It now incorporates the buy-item through Paypal and the download link all in a nice slideshow layout that allows for album commenting and sharing. New Intro Animation created with E-on’s Vue 7 Pro

Here is the newest bit of animation work I’ve been messing around with. I wanted to do something like an intro to go before all my animations. I talk as if I’ll have a lot, but the amount of time it takes to render one I probably won’t get many done. I do enjoy playing around with them and figuring out the software, so as long as I have the time I’ll keep working on them. Hope you enjoy.
Horse Animation and New YouTube Channel

Here is the first phase of my animation. I’m doing it in blocks (phases) because the render times are horrible, it took 27 hours to render this 28 second clip at 30FPS. Then the post processing and sound editing took a while too. Check it out and just know that there is more to come.

New Design finished (Horse Overlook)

I finished a new design and uploaded to my Zazzle Store. I’ve been wanting to do something concerning Horses for a while and just got around to it. I have a few more ideas in the back of my mind using the Horse model and hope to work on them soon. But for now enjoy this one and order a print from Zazzle and I’ll have it added to the Website soon for download as a desktop background. Thanks for taking a look.

Our new store is up and running! Many of the designs that you can download as desktop backgrounds are now available through our store. You can choose from a wide variety of items; such as key chains, mouse pads, digital photos, poster, hats and clothing among others. Some of my favorites include the stamp collection. There are only a few items in there, but I am working hard to update everyday. Check it out and tell others and help spread the word.
